Toyota Hydrogen Fuel Cell Technology

Introducing the Toyota Fuel Cell Vehicle (FCV). The same hybrid technology at the heart of the Prius but with a hydrogen and fuel cell stack.

Oh, and it only emits WATER VAPOR.

With a driving experience that’s on par with a gasoline engine. It’s not just the next movement in automotive technology; it’s the next big movement towards a better future.

The Fuel Cell Vehicle is anticipated to have an EPA driving range rating of approximately 300 miles. And a refueling time as low as three minutes, which is roughly the same as a gasoline vehicle.

The Fuel Cell Vehicle is emission-free. As in no CO2, no greenhouse gas produced, no emissions. The only by-product is water vapor.

Hydrogen gas is fed into the fuel cell stack where it is combined with oxygen. The electricity produced by this chemical reaction is used to power the electric motor and to charge the battery.

It’s simple science. Our fuel cells generate electricity from hydrogen, a fuel that can be produced from a variety of renewable sources like solar and wind power.

Toyota has been working on hydrogen fuel cell technology for more than 20 years. How far has Toyota engineering come? What if YOUR car could provide power to your home during an emergency? When fully fueled, the Fuel Cell Vehicle has enough juice to power a small house for one week!
