Great News for Toyota!

We have some great news to share with you. First, we have some awesome stats that came in for Toyota in the global market. Second, we have recent industry news for Toyota in the US market.

First, Toyota Motor Corp. outsold Volkswagen Group and General Motors Co. for a third straight quarter! (source) Last year Toyota remained the best-selling global car maker in 2013 with a volume of 9.98 million. For President Akio Toyoda, last quarter capped what the company estimates to have been its most profitable fiscal year as Toyota projects a record $18.5 billion. In January, Automotive News Europe reported that Toyota predicted it would breach the 10-million milestone this year, with sales of 10.32 million.

Second, here's an announcement coming straight from the Toyota US news room!

Toyota to Establish New North American Headquarters in Plano, Texas; Expands Toyota Technical Center (TTC) in Michigan

Toyota announced it will unite its multiple U.S. affiliate headquarters at a new headquarters campus in the North Dallas community of Plano, Texas. When construction is complete in late 2016 or early 2017, the new North American headquarters will be home to a company better positioned for more sustainable, long-term growth. Current headquarters locations —Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., (TMS) in Torrance, Calif., Toyota Motor Engineering and Manufacturing North America (TEMA) in Erlanger, Ky., and Toyota Motor North America (TMA) in New York, N.Y., together with Toyota Financial Services (TFS) — will relocate to a single, state-of-the-art, environmentally-sustainable campus in Plano. At the same time, the Company will expand its Toyota Technical Center (TTC) to accommodate the relocation of direct procurement from Erlanger, Ky., to York, Mich. Production Engineering in Erlanger also will move to TMMK in Georgetown, Ky. The transition of approximately 3,000 associates and team members from TMS, TEMA and TMA will begin with initial small groups this summer. The majority of associates and team members will not move until construction of Toyota’s new headquarters is complete, which will be two years or more after the groundbreaking in the fall of this year. TFS in Torrance also plans to move its headquarters to the new, shared campus in Plano. This move, which is not expected to begin until 2017, affects approximately 1,000 associates at TFS’ headquarters.
  • Unifying our headquarters in Plano will strengthen our ability to put customers first and to continue making great products that exceed their expectations.
  • Customers won’t notice any changes.  Dealerships are not moving and parts supply is going to continue as before.  And there will certainly not be any disruption in vehicle deliveries.
  • The customer experience they have come to expect from Toyota will continue as before, with the same level of quality and customer service.

As you can see, Lipton Toyota will not be impacted by this move. But, if any of our customers have questions regarding Toyota's announcement, we encourage you to click here, and you can talk to the dealer directly!

The best-selling car in America just got better. Meet the NEW 2015 Camry.

Ever made someone do a double take? You will now. The new 2015 Camry styling is impossible to ignore, with bold, aggressive hood lines and a striking new front grille. From now on, people won’t just be talking about all that technology, safety and quality engineering. They’ll be too busy asking “Who was that?"

Did you know that the Camry has been the best selling car in the industry for 12 straight years? And now, Toyota has stripped it down to its chassis and rebuilt it from the ground up, make it even better than ever! (source) The mid-cycle update is strikingly thorough, as the 2015 Camry features nearly 2,000 new parts and almost all-new sheet metal, only the roof remains unchanged. Two new sporty editions — the XSE and Hybrid SE — join the well-equipped entry LE and the premium XLE grade, giving customers more choice than ever before.

Almost every surface of the 2015 Camry was refined for an upscale interior. The interior is more refined than ever with premium materials, roomier feel and improved amenities. Toyota engineers also focused on reducing unwanted wind and road noise for an even quieter cabin.

For safety, all Toyota vehicles come standard with the STAR Safety System. In addition, Camry offers:

  • Lane Departure Alert
  • Adaptive Cruise Control
  • Pre-Collision System with Auto High Beams
  • Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross Traffic Alert

Here are some fun facts about the Toyota Camry:

  • Since 1983, 10.2 million Camrys have been sold in the United Sates.
  • Over 6.6 million Camrys are on the road today.
  • Almost 50 American families bring home a new Camry every hour.
  • Every Camry sold in North America is build in the USA by the hard work of 7,000+ skilled American workers.
  • 407,000 Camrys were sold in 2013!

A Behind-the-Scenes Look at the new Scion Epic FR-S Commercial

Check out the new commercial below for the Epic Scion FR-S running this week on CBS, Comedy Central, CW, ABC, NBA Playoffs and More!!

Scion is a brand of vehicles produced by Toyota Motor Corporation for the North American market. Founded in 2002, Scion was introduced at the New York Auto Show to appeal to Generation Y consumers. The first Scion models, the xA hatchback and xB wagon, went on sale in California in 2003, followed by a sports coupe, the tC, and a nationwide U.S. launch in 2004.

A successor to the xA, the xD, premiered in 2008, and the Scion marque expanded to Canada in 2010. Scion currently has five models: the tC, xB, iQ, xD, and the FR-S. The Scion name, meaning the descendant of a family or heir, refers both to the brand's cars and their owners.

Here's a behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to make an Epic Scion FR-S commercial.

"To begin the day, the entire crew headed to the “set” on the streets of Los Angeles for a full day of filming. As usual, the team was out there early to prepare the equipment, cameras, and lighting for the shoot."

"Keeping up with the FR-S isn’t easy thanks to its athletic chassis, so to film it moving down the street, we employed a special pursuit vehicle, fully equipped with cameras and monitors that give the director an immediate look at how the image is being framed."

"Keeping up with the FR-S isn’t easy thanks to its athletic chassis, so to film it moving down the street, we employed a special pursuit vehicle, fully equipped with cameras and monitors that give the director an immediate look at how the image is being framed."

"The feed from the camera on the pursuit vehicle also provided a live feed of the action back to base camp, where the rest of the crew had the chance to look in on the action."

"The camera was remote controlled, giving the director the ability to adjust the shot as needed, without having to position a separate pursuit vehicle dangerously close to a rolling FR-S."

"Meanwhile at another location in LA, the crew began setting up the backdrop for the explosive finale at the end of the spot. There’s not much out there that’s as Epic as the Scion FR-S, though this explosion probably comes close. After all the hard work, we were pleased with the way the commercial turned out and hope you agree."

With a 200 horsepower boxer engine, 6-speed gearbox, and rear-wheel-drive, the Scion FR-S makes driving epic again.
