Scion is a brand of vehicles produced by Toyota Motor Corporation for the North American market. Founded in 2002, Scion was introduced at the New York Auto Show to appeal to Generation Y consumers. The first Scion models, the xA hatchback and xB wagon, went on sale in California in 2003, followed by a sports coupe, the tC, and a nationwide U.S. launch in 2004.
A successor to the xA, the xD, premiered in 2008, and the Scion marque expanded to Canada in 2010. Scion currently has five models: the tC, xB, iQ, xD, and the FR-S. The Scion name, meaning the descendant of a family or heir, refers both to the brand's cars and their owners.
Here's a behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to make an Epic Scion FR-S commercial.
"To begin the day, the entire crew headed to the “set” on the streets of Los Angeles for a full day of filming. As usual, the team was out there early to prepare the equipment, cameras, and lighting for the shoot."
"Keeping up with the FR-S isn’t easy thanks to its athletic chassis, so to film it moving down the street, we employed a special pursuit vehicle, fully equipped with cameras and monitors that give the director an immediate look at how the image is being framed."

"The feed from the camera on the pursuit vehicle also provided a live feed of the action back to base camp, where the rest of the crew had the chance to look in on the action."
"The camera was remote controlled, giving the director the ability to adjust the shot as needed, without having to position a separate pursuit vehicle dangerously close to a rolling FR-S."
"Meanwhile at another location in LA, the crew began setting up the backdrop for the explosive finale at the end of the spot. There’s not much out there that’s as Epic as the Scion FR-S, though this explosion probably comes close. After all the hard work, we were pleased with the way the commercial turned out and hope you agree."
