Lipton Toyota would like to congratulate Chief executive officer of Toyota North America, Jim Lentz, who was recently recognized as Industry Leader of the Year by the Automotive Hall of Fame. Previous recipients of the award include former Toyota Motor Corp. president Fujio Cho and former Chrysler CEO Lee Iacocca.
The Automotive Hall of Fame has been recognizing people of ingenuity and inspiration in the global automotive industry since 1939.
“I am honored to be accepting this distinguished award,” said Jim Lentz, chief executive officer of Toyota North America. ”I accept it on behalf of my teammates, the more than 40,000 Toyota associates in North America who have helped me achieve this dream.”
Lentz, whose career spans more than three and a half decades, including 32 years with Toyota, is credited with steadily guiding Toyota through a series of major challenges in recent years, including the economic recession, large recalls and a huge Japanese earthquake/tsunami that curtailed production in 2011.
In addition, he was instrumental in launching the Scion brand in the U.S., attracting new and younger buyers into the Toyota family, and has been a major factor in creating the Prius family of vehicles and bringing Toyota’s first fuel cell vehicle to market.
CONGRATULATIONS Jim Lentz - from the Lipton Toyota family!
